Description
The Leica iCON iCR70 5 Robotic Total Station is a modern construction layout instrument designed to deliver precise measurement, efficient workflows, and increased productivity on building and infrastructure projects. Developed by Leica Geosystems, this robotic total station integrates advanced automation, reflectorless distance measurement, and digital construction software to support BIM-based workflows and real-time site positioning.
Engineered specifically for construction professionals, the iCR70 enables a single-operator robotic surveying workflow, eliminating the need for a second person during layout tasks. The instrument automatically searches for and tracks prisms using Leica’s SpeedSearch and ATR (Automatic Target Recognition) technologies, ensuring fast target acquisition and continuous prism tracking during measurements and stake-out operations.
With 5-arc-second angular accuracy, the system delivers reliable positioning for a wide range of construction applications including building layout, foundation positioning, structural alignment, and MEP installation. The integrated R500 reflectorless EDM allows distance measurements up to over 500 m without a prism and up to 3,500 m using a prism, enabling flexible use both indoors and outdoors.
The iCR70 is designed to work seamlessly with Leica’s digital construction ecosystem, including iCON Build field software, Leica ConX cloud collaboration, and Leica Infinity office software. These platforms allow users to import 2D drawings or fully rendered 3D BIM models directly into the field controller, making it easier to perform accurate layout directly from digital design data.
For improved productivity on busy jobsites, the instrument supports long-range Bluetooth communication up to about 400 meters with a field tablet controller, allowing surveyors or construction crews to operate the instrument remotely. The system also includes automated setup routines, simplifying instrument positioning and reducing setup time.
Built for demanding environments, the Leica iCR70 features rugged construction, IP55 environmental protection, and long-lasting lithium-ion batteries providing approximately 8–10 hours of operating time in the field
