Description
The Thermo Scientific Niton XL5 is a lightweight handheld XRF spectrometer designed for fast and accurate elemental analysis in the field or laboratory. Using X-ray fluorescence technology, it identifies the chemical composition of materials by detecting the secondary X-rays emitted from a sample when excited by an X-ray source.
Niton XL5 XRF Equipped with a 50 kV X-ray tube and a large-area silicon drift detector (GOLDD), the analyzer provides high sensitivity and fast measurement times—often delivering reliable results in just a few seconds. Its optimized geometry between the X-ray source, detector, and sample improves detection limits, especially for light elements.
The device weighs approximately 1.3 kg, making it one of the lightest handheld XRF analyzers available. It features a tilting color touchscreen interface, integrated camera for sample positioning, and advanced onboard software for data processing and storage. The system can store thousands of measurement results and supports connectivity through USB, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth for easy reporting and data transfer.
The Niton XL5 can detect a wide range of elements—from magnesium (Mg) to uranium (U)—and includes pre-configured analytical modes for alloy identification, mining exploration, environmental screening, and precious metal analysis. Its rugged IP54-rated housing ensures durability in demanding industrial environments.
