Description

The DigiTrak F2 Locator is a professional underground locating system designed for Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) operations. It is used to track and monitor the position of a drill head during the underground installation of pipelines, cables, and utility conduits without the need for trench excavation. The system receives signals from a transmitter located inside the drill head and converts them into real-time drilling information such as depth, pitch, roll, and temperature.

The locator features an intuitive graphic display and menu-driven interface, allowing operators to easily monitor drilling data and maintain accurate bore paths. With both bird’s-eye and side view displays, the DigiTrak F2 provides clear visual guidance for drill operators, improving precision and reducing the risk of underground utility damage.

Designed for demanding job sites, the DigiTrak F2 can track drilling operations at depths of up to 85 ft (approximately 25.9 m) with high measurement accuracy. Advanced functions such as Target Steering®, roll offset, and off-track locating help operators maintain control even when obstacles prevent direct tracking above the drill head.

The system uses 12 kHz or 19.2 kHz frequencies and supports multiple transmitters and remote displays. It also features 4-channel radio telemetry with a range of up to 1,800 ft (550 m), allowing drilling data to be transmitted directly to the drill rig for real-time monitoring. Powered by a rechargeable lithium-ion battery pack, the locator provides approximately 10–14 hours of continuous operation, making it suitable for long drilling projects.

The DigiTrak F2 is widely used in telecommunications installation, water and gas pipeline construction, utility infrastructure projects, and underground cable installation, where accurate drill tracking and navigation are critical for safe and efficient drilling operations.
