Description
The Vanguard TRF-100 is a microprocessor-based, automatic three-phase transformer turns-ratio tester designed for testing power transformers in electrical substations and maintenance facilities. This portable instrument measures the transformer turns ratio by accurately comparing the voltages across the transformer windings using the IEEE C57.12.90 measurement method, ensuring reliable and precise results during transformer diagnostics and commissioning.
Vanguard TFR100 provides a wide turns-ratio measuring range from 0.8 to 50,000:1 and offers high measurement accuracy of approximately ±0.1%, making it suitable for testing distribution, power, and instrument transformers. The unit automatically detects transformer phase relationships and supports many transformer configurations such as single-phase, delta-to-wye, wye-to-delta, delta-to-delta, and wye-to-wye connections without requiring cable changes.
The tester features selectable test voltages of 4 Vac, 40 Vac, and 100 Vac, allowing it to evaluate different transformer types including CTs, PTs, and power transformers. In addition to turns-ratio measurements, the TRF-100 can also measure excitation current and winding phase angle, providing deeper insight into transformer condition.
Designed for field use, the instrument includes a back-lit LCD display, rugged keypad interface, internal memory for test records, and USB connectivity for data transfer to a computer. With optional accessories such as a built-in thermal printer and PC analysis software, users can generate detailed transformer test reports quickly and efficiently.
